At the start of the game's levels, as well as after they are completed, the main character will have different dialogues, where she will talk about things that have happened in her life, as well as reflecting on the outcome of the chapter she just completed, offering a direct perspective on her emotions and progress of journey.
Tutorial Level
Setting
The tutorial level takes place on a courtyard, representing the entrance to the crystal, and Aste’s preparation for the trials; Because when entering the crystal, Aste is at the start of her journey, the aspect of the crystal reflects this, the level looks old and abandoned; where the environment weathered and frail, support pillars lying on the floor, and dust/ashes filling empty spaces.
Narration (NPC | TBN):
Level Start: “You find yourself enveloped by the very crystal you once held. Do not be afraid or misled; this journey will not be easy. Life within the crystal is timeless and most peculiar. Soon, you will embark on your first trial—a challenge crafted by the crystal to address your inner turmoil; Ah, yes, a split soul, quite unique indeed. Five trials await your completion. As you navigate this path, you will face numerous obstacles; do not take them lightly, nor the experience they give you. Take a moment to explore your surroundings and familiarize yourself with the environment, you won’t be able to leave the crystal until the trials have been completed”.
First Interaction (Crystal Activator): “Ah, you found a Fallen Star; these will help you take control of your environment; touching them may change different aspects of a trial to help you complete them”.
First Interaction (Pressure Plate): “Hmm, these mechanisms are older than I am, purely mechanical, and a worthy tool for overcoming the path ahead”.
Denial Level
Setting
The first chapter takes place in the forest at the outskirts of town, where plenty of flora grows, with large looming trees as well as moss-covered rocks. Because the first chapter focuses on denial, the levels are very calm and collected, nothing seems out of place and the background should look organized as well as pleasant; for example, using a large number of trees, non-deprecated buildings, and with bright colors.
Narration (Aste):
Intro (first load in chapter one): “As a child, I often played with other kids in the town center. But there were moments when I would suddenly collapse, finding myself in a desolate space that resembled my surroundings but was starkly different—empty, dark, and cold. Over time, I learned to manipulate this ability; while I couldn't fully control it, I took comfort in being able to summon it rather than always being subjected to its whims. Yet true solace remained elusive as I struggled with the challenge of experiencing two realities simultaneously”.
